A note from USST Head Coach, Chris Grover: Several small modifications were needed to our current World Cup selection criteria for this coming season based on calendar and rule modifications at the spring FIS meetings. An updated World Cup Calendar is attached.
Here are the areas effected:
1.) It turns out that there will be a period IV of World Cup as usual. This gives us the opportunity to potentially have different COC leaders on the World Cup in Period III and Period IV, and it allows us to select COC leaders from later in the SuperTour to Period IV, which is optimal, driving attendance at the SuperTour mid-season and allowing us to select an athlete closer to their actual WC appearance.
2.) We have received the go-ahead to continue to bring our Overall, Distance, and Sprint SuperTour leaders to Spring World Cup (March 9-17, 2013).
The attached updated selection criteria reflect these changes/clarifications and This has been posted this to the USSA website. These changes have no impact on the fall SuperTour selection of athletes to our Nation's Group at the Canadian World Cups. That part of the criteria remains unchanged. These are good changes for us; they give U.S. athletes more opportunity.
