Posted by: Abby Weissman

The Craftsbury Green Team and US Biathlon have announced an Introduction to Biathlon Training Camp for skiers in Grades 5-8 to be held at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Full camp information below.

Train with USBA coach Algis Shalna and members of the Craftsbury Green Team, learning the basics of biathlon marksmanship. Training also includes agility, plyometrics, trail running, ski technique drills and a running biathlon race. Athletes will learn lots about biathlon and what it’s like to train and compete at a high level. Algis is an Olympic Gold Medalist, and athletes from the USBA Jr and Sr National teams will be helping out at the camp.

This camp is for Athletes completing Grades 5-8 who have a solid xc skiing background and are currently in good physical condition. Athletes must be highly motivated and willing to take instructions well. Athletes will be learning to shoot 22 caliber biathlon rifles, so listening and following instruction are important for safety as well as for learning a new skill.
