Capping a great week of racng with half a dozen podiums in the Team Relay events, New England took back the biggest prize in national junior cross country ski racing, winning the Alaska Cup as the best team at the 2014 USSA Junior National Championship. Last year, Alaska bested New England at home in Fairbanks to take the cup. This year, in Stowe, VT, New England clinched their bid to reclaim the cup in today's team relay events. New England teams combined for a one-two finish for the U20 women, gold for the U20 men and U18 women, silver for the U16 girls and bronze for the U16 boys.
The 2014 EasternCup Series, and the final shot at Junior National qualifying points came to a close this weekend in New Hampshire. We found a little bit of winter in the hills of Vermont. The University of Vermont Carnival and NENSA EasternCup combined race at Trapp Family Lodge is one of the great traditions of modern ski racing here in New England. More teams than ever participated in the One-Day Club Championship, held as part of the White Mountain Classic in Jackson, NH on January 26, and the winning margins were smaller than any in recent memory!

A light snow fell over some great racing today. Katherine Ogden ran away from the Brams sisters of CSU to win the women's race. Daniel Streinz (MWSC) completed the sweep of the U16 Boys events.
