Athlete Development

NENSA strives to create an environment where athletes who choose to pursue excellence, can achieve success at the highest levels of the sport. Age and ability level opportunities exist in both competition season and training season with a clear pathway progression designed to challenge and educate a developing athlete.  Appropriate competition for all ages and levels of skiers is encouraged. A comprehensive statement has been prepared by the NENSA Athletic Development Committee in the form of a Development Planning Position Statement which describes NENSA’s collaborative philosophy within the ski community. A snapshot of the Athlete Pathway is provided in the link below.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard Eastern Regional (REG) Camp Criteria for New England Athletes:
NENSA uses Elite and Development Team criteria for REG qualification (U16-U20 athletes).
– If additional spots are still available the NE Junior National Team qualification list is used.
– Depending on venue camps typically accommodate 35-45 athletes with an even male/female ratio.
– Mid Atlantic athletes also join the Eastern REG which influences camp composition.
