Here's NENSA Program Director Pat Cote's thoughts about why even web savvy travelers should still use a travel agent:
I have had the opportunity to work closely with the Vermont office of Garber Travel over the past several weeks. Specifically, we have arranged plane tickets and rental vehicles for the March 2006 Junior Olympic trip, plane tickets for the NENSA Travels West Yellowstone Masters Trip, and plane tickets and Visa advice for the NENSA Travels Russian Junior Trip.
Previously I had acted as my own travel agent, surfing the internet for "deals", and usually purchasing directly at the airline web sites. I thought of myself as a fairly savvy shopper who usually found good deals. There were a few things I did not realize. First, I was wasting a lot of time with the process. Second, I was not actually saving any money because I did not always have access to the best prices. And third, I did not have the expertise to understand the intricacies of airline, hotel, and car rental pricing. Working with MarJo and Hannah at Vermont's Garber Travel made me realize the amazing things they can do to make travel easier, more organized, and better. I am consistently amazed by the fact that my emails are answered within minutes of hitting the "send" button. When I needed to add three tickets to the Yellowstone trip, Hannah happily helped me make the arrangement at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon.
Of course, I am thankful to Garber Travel for providing significant financial
support to NENSA. I am most thankful, however, to have been introduced to
the Vermont office of Garber Travel because of the help they have provided
with NENSA programming. The NENSA Travels program is something that I created
and something that I very much believe in. There have been times, however,
when I worried that I would have to scrap the whole program because of its
time-intensive nature. Now, with the help of Garber Travel, I feel confident
in its future and excited to dream up new destinations for NENSA members.
