June 10-30, 2009, Burke Summer Sweden Trip Solleftea, Sweden, , ()
Event Info: The Sweden Trip filled quickly in early spring. There is a good mix of returning athletes and new ones. The Swedes are looking forward to our visit and have advertised our presence at the summer ski school as offering their kids a chance to practice and try their English. The coaching staff again includes top National team athletes and coaches.
This year a young coach from the Ski Gymnasium in Torsby, Johanna Ojala will join us for the on-snow part of the trip to Norway. Johanna graduated from the Ski Gym in Solleftea, was part of the Swedish Junior Team, and participated in Spring series when it was in Idaho and Wyoming. She has now turned to coaching and loves it. Johanna will also provide a good window and a connection to another one of Sweden’s top academies.
The trip is ideal for ages 14 – 19 and we have room for either boys or girls. The trip has been an inspiration to the summer training plans of a lot of Burke alumni and is a favorite memory of many others.
Registration: Dates are 10 – 30 June and ground cost is $2300. Contact Pete Phillips at Burke

The coach/student ratio is low, the food and accommodations are excellent at the Saddleback Mountain base lodge and condos, and we are sure you'll come away with tips and new skills to make your ski season better than it was last year!! Price includes lodging (4 or 6 people per condo), excellent coaching, and all meals from Thursday dinner through Sunday breakfast. $599 per person. Check NENSA website for updated details.
Registration: Guaranteed snow and cancellation policy: If there is not enough natural snow to open trails, we have access to manmade snow at the nearby Saddleback Mountain alpine venue. There is plenty of varied terrain for training on the lower slopes. In the event it is too warm to make snow (unlikely, but it could happen) and there is inadequate coverage to meet our standards for a good experience, we will refund less a $25 processing fee. If you must cancel, there is a full refund available before November 19, between Nov. 19 and Nov. 29 qualifies for 50% refund. November 30th onward there is no refund. Register at www.skireg.com

Event Info: We do not run an organized training camp, but do encourage families and clubs to make the trip to Foret Montmorency for some fairly reliable early season skiing close to New England. Each year, more and more New Englanders head to Foret and it is a fun way to kick off the season. We've been up there for the past 8 years and have some good advice on lodging, etc. Here's what we recommend: Link to Trip Planning Guide.

August 10-18, 2008, Burke Mtn Academy Camp Adirondacks, , ()
Event Info: New Information! The BMA August camp (10-18 August) welcomes Jesper Johnsson, a member of the coaching team at the Jaerpen Ski Gymnasium in Sweden, as a guest coach for the camp. (Jesper joined Jaerpen when Magnar Dalen moved to take over the Finninsh National team, and often is the "voice" at major Swedish events. A good coach and a lot of fun!)
Burke’s August Camp is meant to evaluate and build on the summer's training. It will be geared to different levels of experience and different ages but it is focused at athletes who have followed a summer plan. Assessment, and making individual plans for getting the most out of the remaining months of the fall is the primary goal of the camp. Interval sessions, and intensity will play a significant role. This is a Burke Team camp, but we eagerly welcome skiers from other programs, or those who have primarily trained on their own and want to get an idea of where they are. Camp to be held in the Adirondacks.

July, 16-20, 2008, JLS Sports 7th annual Trip to Trout Lake , Trout Lake , WA ()
Event Info: This trip will encompass time in Bend, Oregon prior to departing for the Trout Lake Camp. Our group will fly into Portland Oregon and make our way to Bend where we will spend a few days with a host family. Camp participants will have an opportunity to train with MBSEF/PNSA skiers as well as take in the local sights such as Mt Hood's spectacular beauty, Smith Rock climbing area (and its renowned hiking trails) and the Deschutes River and its activities.
On Wed July 16th our caravan of MBSEF, Methow Valley, JLS Sports and other western athletes will make its way to Trout Lake Washington for the start of camp. First session begins that afternoon. At last years camp, the presence of two former Olympians, seven junior national champions, and three world junior team members brought a level of accomplishment to the group that is certainly unique.
What can campers expect? Rustic lodging or camping, the best swimming hole around, a myriad of paved logging roads for roller skiing that wind up the mountain, and the opportunity to learn from your peers and a great coaching staff. Second year J1's and OJ's will be allowed to scale Mt. Adams with a qualified group leader ( pending conditions).
The training at this camp will be challenging. If you are a first year J1 or older with a goal of competing in Eastern Cups, JOQ's and Junior Nationals, time spent on roller skis prior to camp is required. There will also be appropriate groups for those new to Nordic skiing and roller skiing.

November 20-25, 2007, NENSA Travels: Foret Montmorency Stoneham Mtn and "Le Foret", North of Quebec City, QC (NENSA Travels)
Event Info: While we do not offer coordinated coaching for this travel opportunity, we list it on our calendar as a reminder that there's often good skiing, at a low price just north of New England at Foret Montmorency. What are are offering is travel consultation with NENSA's Pat Cote who has traveled to the area for the past 7 years and enjoyed skiing all except for last year. Give Pat a call or email for help arranging your team or family Thanksgiving trip.
Registration: Lodging options range from dorm-style with meal plan to luxury vacation homes and condos. We learned the hard way that there is no refund for cancellation at the dorms, but in the process we found two great rental agencies at Stoneham Mtn, just 40 minutes south of Le Foret that do offer full refunds for cancellations. AND, if there's no snow, the training at Stoneham is still fantastic.

June 11-29, 2007, Dryland in Sweden and On-Snow in Norway! Sweden and Norway, , ()
Event Info: For the 6th summer a group of juniors from all across the country will have the chance to participate in Sweden’s Solleftea Summer Ski School, and to train twice a day on snow at Norway’s spectacular Sognefjell.
The Summer Ski School is an important recruiting tool for the Ski Gymnasium in Solleftea, and juniors from all over Sweden come to train with top athletes and coaches from the current Swedish National Team, from the Ski Gymnasium. This year’s list of guests includes World Junior sprint winner Robin Bryntesson, and double gold winner Charlotte Kalla. We were first invited to participate 7 years ago and with the exception of last year, when dates and job changes made it impossible, a group has gone back each year. Our athletes live with the Swedish kids, and enjoy 4 meals and two training sessions per day that include video work, a lot of individual attention, and hard training.
For athletes working on a tougher training schedule there is a lot of opportunity to train directly with the Swedish athlete-coaches as they pursue their own plan in the open periods of the days. There is also an individual goal planning session one-on-one with a Swedish coach that can be extremely interesting and educational for a committed athlete. It is another window on your sport.
After Sollefteaa, the group drives to Sognefjell in Norway. We take a day to put in a 25 Km double pole along a lake near Roros, and an evening to relax with a grilled dinner at the cabin of friends in Norway. In Sognefjell the trails are groomed for Skating in the morning and Classic in the afternoon. We stay at the Sognefjell Hytta, enjoy four meals a day, and work on the opportunity to put in quality hours. A roller ski time trial, now fairly famous in the ski world from Boeverdalen up to Krossbu, on the main road through the mountains has become a fun feature of each trip. There is also an afternoon down on the Sognefjord for a little soccer, circuit strength, and for the brave a dip in the glacial blue river.
This is a training trip, and people should be in good shape and comfortable on their roller skis. It can, however, be very appropriate for J2 skiers. The opportunity to improve and become more in tune with an individual program is huge. For more experienced athletes the chance to train with some of the top Junior and U-23 skiers in the game is a rare and special opportunity. They are exceptionally nice people and are eager to share their time.
We are leaving on the 8th or 9th of June and will return on the 28th or 29th. Ground cost which includes all travel (rental vans) in Scandinvia, the Summer Ski School and the food and lodging in both Solleftea, and Sognefjell is $2350.
