August 14-16, 2009, NENSA Gaining Ground Clinic with Andy Newell, Nina Gavrylyuk. Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Craftsbury Commons, VT ()
Event Info: Andy Newell, USST member and Vermont Native, is one of the fastest men in World Cup Sprint Racing. In August, he will come together with Nina Gavrylyuk, Olympic Gold Medalist and other top New England coaches to help you gain insight into effective training, racing and speed building strategies.

This summer the USST heads into its final push for the 2010 Olympic Games. Get first hand knowledge of what it takes to ski at this level, and how you can incorporate specific elements to help you perform better and meet your personal goals.

This clinic will take place August 14-16th. Other potential instructors include Justin Freeman (2006 Olympics), and Patrick Weaver (1998 and 2002 Olympics). Andy has graciously agreed to help out with this clinic and we're hoping that our payment can help him reach his goal of an Olympic medal. The more sign-ups we get, the more we'll be able to pay Andy and our other high-level presenters!

Join us at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, home of the newly launched Elite Green Racing Team. Participants will get the run down on classic and skate technique both in theory and on roller skis. Basic physiology will be discussed along with how to incorporate the myriad of training levels and workouts into a meaningful plan. Participants will be treated to an indoor round-table discussion where your questions get asked and answered in a collaborative setting. There will also be an autograph session, and a raffle for a personal roller ski lesson with Andy.

In addition to providing participants with a view from the top echelons of Nordic skiing, this clinic will also satisfy the requirements for the NENSA Level 1 Coaches Education Certification, and many of the requirements of the USSA L100 certification. The NENSA Coaching and Training Resource Guide is included in the clinic price. (NENSA GG Clinics satisfy the USSA L100 requirements of a Technique clinic, the AESEP course and coaches who are NENSA level 1 or 2 certified will receive a signifcant discount off of the L100 manual and test).
