NENSA BKL Club of the Year Award-Eastern Massachusetts Bill Koch Ski Club

Posted by: Abby Weissman

Summary: NENSA is Proud to Announce Eastern Massachusetts Bill Koch Ski Club as the NENSA BKL Club of the Year.
Eastern Mass BKL has developed a great club organizational model. As a result has steadily grown over the past years in spite of previous off-snow years. This year alone they had a 40% growth rate!
Putting it at the largest BKL Club in New England with 140 members. Their formula for success is the well organized work of many of their members. Under the tenure of Jim Stock and Peter Honing the club had it’s largest growth spurt. Some of the keys to their success have been a great communication vehicle their website http://easternmassnordic.org/ which is a fantastic resource for all BKL clubs. They also have a very strong emphasis on coaches education. This past season they had nine coaches attend the Spring Gaining Ground Clinic. This is bolstered by a great internal coaches education program as well. Their club model is very efficient, with a great system of subdivision of labor, where people with given talents focused on a specific task. Like a well run business! Last year they knew that given the interest of younger sibilings of existing members and their friends they were poised for continued rapid growth. We hope next year will be even better for them!
