The Frost Mountain Nordic BKL Club generally meets twice per week on Wednesday afternoons (after school) and Saturday mornings. This past year we incorporated 2 more after school sessions to focus on racing practice and technique. We have skiers aged 4 through 13 and we split them into age based groups (friends ski together regardless of ability) on Wednesday and Saturday. On the other two optional days we focus on technique and arrange groups based on ability. We encourage kids to try local BKL club races sponsored by other clubs, although races are optional, and we also hold our our BKL race at Rikert Ski Touring Center in Ripton, VT. First and foremost we cultivate an atmosphere of fun with a long term goal of a love for x-country skiing and the winter outdoors. Frost Mountain Nordic also includes a masters program and a high school (junior) program. Our FMN coach, Cam Mackuglar manages these programs and you can reach him at cmackugl@gmail.com

Ford Sayre BKL Nordic serves kids from K thru 8, meeting 1- 3 times a week (Tue-Thu-Fri after school) w/ some additional pre-season dry-land training. We participate in regional BKL races and host one or two local events in the course of a season. Our club is part of the overall Ford Sayre Ski Council family. Mountain Top BKL meets on Tuesdays and Saturdays from December - mid March. All children, ages 5 - 14 are welcome. There is also a pee-wee program for under 5... the child(ren) must be accompanied by a parent. Some of our club members typically attend events on Sundays hosted by other CEVT (Central Vermont) clubs, and we also travel to other districts for events. Lease and rental equipment are available for BKL members at a very reasonable price. Parents are encouraged to help out and ski with the BKL sessions. Creating a love of the sport is the driving purpose of this program.

Our club meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 3:30 p.m. Our season begins the second week of December and runs through the end of February. As part of the Southern Vermont League, we host two races. Our club also sponsors a number of non-competitive events during the season which have included a Winter Solstice ski, a Children's Birkebeiner, and memory courses and troll visits in conjunction with our races. We also enjoy our Skijeger'n program—a ski-orienteering trim course set up in mid-January. Skiers have an opportunity to "hunt" down the posts until the end of February to earn a gold, silver, or bronze medal.

Our "big" day is usually Wednesdays at The Grammar School, starting about 3:30. There are also "regional" days on Thursday at Grafton Ponds, and other days at Vermont Academy with their race team. We are part of the Southern Vermont League and hold races with West River and Prospect. All the information on our club is on our webpage https://sites.google.com/site/putneyskiclub/home. We have a really solid group of very young skiers (including a pre-school group) and work with kids up to middle school, when they can join up with Vermont Academy's Ski Team in a high school development program. There are a few masters who ski under the PSC banner but nothing too formal.
